39 Chechen Militants Killed Since Early November

In the course of armed clashes with federal troops 39 militants have been killed and 26 arrested on Chechen territory. This was revealed in an official statement on Friday by the Foreign Ministry. According to the ministry, during this period more than 200 search and reconnaissance operations have been carried out on Chechen territory. In addition, 76 land mines and other explosive devices have been discovered and defused. Fifty-nine people have been detained on suspicion of being members of illegal armed formations. Fifty-four grenade launchers, 88 small arms units, more than 109,000 rounds of ammunition (various calibres), approximately 800 mines and shells, more than 5 tons of explosives, and also more than 3,5 kg of narcotics have been seized.
