An accomplice in assassination of Chechen local administration head detained

The Chechen law enforcement agencies have managed to detain an accomplice in the assassination of Zavgayev, head of Chechnya's Nadterechny district administration.

The Regional operative staff for conducting the counterterrorist operation in the North Caucasus reports that operative and search measures in connection with this criminal case identified those involved in committing the crime. They are three locals of the village of Khatuni (Chechnya's Vedeno region), and a dweller of Goragorsk (Nadterechny district), aged relatively 25, 36 and 32.

One of the suspects has been detained, inquest in his regard is underway.

Zavgayev and Nadterechny district administration secretary Zareta Khachukayeva were killed September 9 this year. The most experienced officers of the temporary operative grouping of Russia's Interior Ministry were charged with investigating into the case.

The location of other accomplices is being specified and measures to detain them are underway.
