Air force intercepts plane

According to preliminary data, the documents the pilot of a plane that was intercepted had to cross the Russian border were expired, a source in the Russian Defense Ministry told RIA Novosti.

On Thursday morning, Russian MiG-29 fighters intercepted a small plane that was on a round-the-world flight and violated Russia airspace from the direction of Mongolia.

"After the plane entered Russia's airspace, it did not respond to any questions for a long time," the source said, "including question about its ownership, only after Russian Air Force fighters approached it did the pilot immediately answer and fulfill the order to land."

Presently, the pilot of the plane is in custody. The competent bodies are investigating why the pilot did not respond to orders from the ground.
