The police, with the help of local residents, prevented two terrorist acts in Chechnya, reported sources in the Chechen Interior Ministry.

"Following the lead provided by local residents of the Staropromyslovsky district of the Chechen capital, the police discovered and destroyed an explosive device made on the basis of 82-mm mortar shells," said an Interior Ministry official. In addition, a powerful bomb was destroyed in the Achkhoi-Martan district. "An improvised bomb consisted of two grenades, 150 grams of TNT and a capsule with metal shards to increase the destructive power of the explosive device," the official stressed.

Sources in the Chechen Interior Ministry underlined that in both cases the police managed to prevent terrorist acts thanks to the help of local residents who made timely reports about the discoveries of bombs to local law enforcement agencies.

At present, the police are conducting a thorough search for terrorists, added the official from the Chechen Interior Ministry.
