Many foreigners, mostly Arabs, among militants attacking Ingush village

A group of militants who attacked the Ingush village of Galashki in the North Caucasian mountainous area numbered at least 200. Many foreigners, mostly Arabs, were among them, the RIA Novosti correspondent quoted the Ingush Interior Ministry as saying on Thursday.

According to the military engaged in the operation, half of the attackers was killed, Arabs among them.

About 20 federals were killed in the shootout, the Ingush Interior Ministry reported.

The RIA Novosti correspondent saw a damaged armoured car sent downhill.

There are also civilian victims in Galashki. Militants shot one villager, Arapkhanova, says the Ingush Interior Ministry. Another villager, Ozdoev, was wounded in the belly.

No victims reported among Ingush policemen and no destruction can be seen in the village. The situation has been brought to normal, according to the republican Interior Ministry.
