6 people killed as suicide car bomber exploaded near government ministries

A suicide car bomb exploded near several government ministries in central Baghdad on Monday morning as employees were arriving at work, killing at least six policemen and wounding 13 people, most of them civilians, police said.

The blast occurred at about 7:50 a.m., near Iraq's oil ministry and not far from the country's irrigation ministry and Police Academy, said police Lt. Col. Fuad Asaad. Employees were arriving at work at these ministries, which generally open each day at 8 a.m.

The car bomb killed at least six policemen and wounded 13 people, five policemen and eight government employees, Asaad said, reports the AP.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
