Ukrainian refugees flee to Russia

The influx of refugees from the Ukraine continues to grow. The stories from Acting PM Arseny Yatsenyuk about the dialogue between the east and the west of the country do not help. The loans from the European Union and the United States do not stop people from leaving Ukraine either. Apparently, the Ukrainians do not believe that Poroshenko can save their lives.

Migration services of Russia's Krasnodar Territory point out the significant growth in the number of appeals from Ukrainian citizens for refugee status or temporary shelter after the exacerbation of the political and economic situation in Ukraine.

As many as 25 people have submitted application, 12 more asked to be provided with temporary shelter. Last year, there were no such appeals, Itar-Tass reports with reference to the press service of the regional Office of the Federal Migration Service of Russia.

According to the chief of the department, Oleg Kostin, as many as 29,200 citizens of Ukraine have entered the territory of the Krasnodar region of Russia through checkpoints; 28,400 people left the region. More than 2,700 Ukrainians have managed to obtain work patents during this time;  nearly 2,000 immigrants from the neighboring state have applied for registration of temporary residence, 242 Ukrainian citizen applied for Russian citizenship.

Earlier, Ukrainian President-Elect Petro Poroshenko said that one of his first steps as president of Ukraine would be the completion of the military operation in the Donbass region. The operation would end in a few hours, not days, he said. It was also reported that from 26 to 27 May, immediately after Poroshenko's speech, the number of casualties in the Donbas rose to dozens.
