A man embroiled in a custody dispute shot the mother of one of his children on Staten Island, then drove to the home of another woman with whom he had fathered a child and shot her too before killing himself, police said.
Police found the body Friday of the man believed to be the shooter, Rashaum Mack, 25, dead in a car in an apparent suicide.
The first victim, Rachel Rivas, was brought to a hospital Thursday night with wounds to her head and later died.
Police said that a judge awarded custody of their child to Rivas, possibly angering Mack. The second victim, Chantel Curtis, 24, is listed in critical condition at Staten Island University Hospital. Police said that both women had orders of protection against Mack, AP reports.
