Forty-five Corpses Retrieved, Eighteen Identified

Forty-five corpses of sailors who died on August 12, 2000, in the Barents Sea have been retrieved from the Kursk submarine in the floating dock near the Roslyakovo settlement, Murmansk region, head of the Russian Northern Fleet press service Vladimir Navrotsky reported on Monday. Eighteen corpses have been identified. The commanders of the Northern Fleet had telephone conversations with relatives of all identified submariners. Navrotsky pointed out that a great part of the near and dear of the dead sailors would bury them in their cities and villages. On Monday, after the mourning ceremonies, the corpses of the dead sailors will be delivered to relatives. The cruise missiles will be detached from the silos on both sides of the Kursk in the floating dock on Monday.
