Lava appeared in kluchevsky volcano crater, kamchatka

Lava has appeared in the crater of the Kluchevsky volcano in Kamchatka /Russia's Far East/.

On the night of Friday there was a flash on the top of Kluchevsky, which proved appearance of new lava, the Kluchevsky seismological station informed RIA Novosti. The flashes appear at 1-10-minute intervals, however, there are no bombs over the crater.

The height of the gas and ash spews reaches a thousand meters above the crater.

The seismological station registers a great number of surface earthquakes and earthquakes 30 km below the central crater.

Experts forecast the beginning of a big eruption at Kluchevsky this year.

Kluchevsky is the highest active volcano in Asia and Europe /4,835 metres/. The last most powerful top crater eruptions combined with side convulsions were registered in 1978-1993.

The volcano poses no danger to the nearby settlements, with the town of Kluchi situated closest from it. /30 km/.
