Ukrainian MPs said on January 30 that they found one of the leaders of Automaidan, Dmitry Bulatov. Bulatov said that he had been kidnapped and brutally tortured. His associate, Sergey Poyarkov, told reporters that Bulatov had been tortured for information about who was funding the protest movement.

Dmitry Bulatov disappeared on January 22. The same day, Berkut riot police detained members of the auto column of Auto Maidan, but Bulatov was not among the detainees. A criminal case was filed into his disappearance.

Yesterday, it was said that Bulatov was staying in the village of Vishenki of the  Boryspil district of the Kyiv region. He managed to get there after he had been thrown out of a vehicle in the woods.

Bulatov said that unknown individuals were torturing him for eight days, beating him, crushing his hands, crucifying the victim and cutting his ear.

The body of activist Yuri Verbitsky, who was also kidnapped and tortured, was found last week in the same area, where Bulatov was found.

Oppositionist Pyotr Poroshenko said that the kidnapping of Bulatov and another activist, Igor Lutsenko, were related to each other and conducted by one and the same people.

It was reported that Dmitry Bulatov underwent medical examination. His internal organs, as reported by local media, were not damaged. In this regard, some bloggers accused Dmitry Bulatov of staging his own kidnapping. They called Bulatov's kidnapping a fake.
