In the past 24 hours federal forces have eliminated a four-man group of bandits in the Itum-Kali district of Chechnya.
The law-enforcement bodies report that the gunmen tried to cross over the Kerigo pass, but fell into a border guards' ambush. An at least hour-long exchange of fire followed, in which all bandits were killed. No losses among the border guards were reported. The gunmen are currently being identified.
