In the past 24 hours federal forces have eliminated a four-man group of bandits in the Itum-Kali district of Chechnya.
The law-enforcement bodies report that the gunmen tried to cross over the Kerigo pass, but fell into a border guards' ambush. An at least hour-long exchange of fire followed, in which all bandits were killed. No losses among the border guards were reported. The gunmen are currently being identified.
Savarbek Makhayev, deputy head of the district administration told RIA Novosti that the situation continues to be quiet in the district, where no special measures are being carried out at present.
