The post office took the alarm clock sent from Germany to Dagestan (the North Caucasian republic) for an explosive device.
Yesterday evening the post office's employees in the republic's Tlyaratinsky district heard the ticking of clock in one of the parcels. They called police.
The border-guards and policemen surrounded the post office and conducted full evacuation.
The post office told RIA Novosti on phone that field engineers who arrived on Thursday evening on the alarm signal from the republic's capital, Makhachkala established that it was the alarm clock that ticked in the parcel sent to a Tlyarata citizen by his son who lives in Germany.
The Tlyaratinsky district is situated near the Tsuntinsky district where a large group of militants penetrated last December. That is why intensive measures to prevent terrorist acts are being taken in the district.
