War in Iraq Causes Earthquakes - 1 April, 2003 - News

Tremors measuring about 5 on the Richter scale were recorded in Iran yesterday. As RTR television company announced, Russian seismologists are saying they could have been caused by the bombing in Iraq. Experts believe that the tremors caused by the bombing can be felt some distance away from the Persian Gulf, including Dagestan. Analysis of the seismological conditions after the Desert Storm operation in 1991 and the bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 show that earthquakes usually begin in seismologically active areas 2-4 weeks after the bombings begin.
