Saddam Hussein Rebuts Reports on His Family Departure

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein rebutted Tuesday reports about his family's departure from Iraq. He also said his near and dear's fate was closely linked with the fate of the Iraqi people.

The Al-Jazeera TV channel broadcast Hussein's official statement to the effect that such reports are "false rumours spread by the Pentagon." This statement came after the news media reported that Saddam Hussein's wife and some other relatives had left Iraq.
