Iraqi Ambassador Refutes Reports about Battles Taking Place in Close Vicinity to Baghdad

The military operations are going on some 400 kilometres south of Baghdad, said Iraqi ambassador Abbas Khalaf Kunfud, addressing a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

The diplomat categorically refuted the reports about the battles taking place in close vicinity to Baghdad. The ambassador believes that such "military reports of the American command are aimed at raising the spirit of their soldiers." "The closest battles are taking place in the town of Al-Nassiriya, which is 375 kilometres south of Baghdad," pointed out Abbas Khalaf Kunfud.
