In the early hours of Thursday, the US aviation resumed bombing Kabul, Kandahar and Mazar-i-Sharif, as well as Taliban positions in various regions of Afghanistan. The Al-Jazeera TV-station reports that the aircraft were flying the altitude of approximately 10 km, which is out of the range of the Taliban air defence. The most fierce strikes were delivered on the stronghold in the Chomali valley located north of the Afghan capital. The raid targeted the destruction of the Taliban positions, armaments and fuel depots. Another raid has been launched against the mountainous district west of Kandahar. This area is believed to be the place where the Taliban units have retreated. The Iranian IRNA news agency reported on Thursday that the other day, American aircraft performed first landing on the Northern Alliance-controlled airfield of Bagram located 25 km from Kabul. Meanwhile, the data of the Centre for the Strategic and Military Studies in Washington show that the price of the joint US and GB operation in Afghanistan has already exceeded 1 bln dollars. The report also discloses the fact that following the terror attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, the US Congress has allocated 40 bln dollars as "an emergency fund". The Pentagon's share in this lot is 12.8 bln dollars.
