The USA and Russia do not have serious differences concerning the future composition of a coalition government in Afghanistan, US ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow said at a press conference in Moscow on Monday. He recalled that the joint declaration by the Russian and American presidents on the results of the Washington summit said that the sides agreed on the Taliban movement representatives not to be included in the future government of Afghanistan. At the same time the US ambassador did not rule out the possibility that certain persons who are connected with the Taliban but who gave up their ideology might participate in the future coalition government. According to Vershbow, the USA does not strive for its long-term military presence in Afghanistan. He believes that this presence is part of the question of ensuring stability in the country.
