Iraq Doesn't Need Any Tomahawk Democracy, Igor Ivanov Says

Iraq doesn't need any democracy being brought on the wings of Tomahawk cruise missiles, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov told journalists today. The wise Iraqi nation can build its own future, Ivanov added.

Ivanov denounced unauthorized US and British military operations in Iraq. Events of the last few days show that all this was really a big mistake, Ivanov stressed.

In his words, the US-British attack has inflicted serious damage. Among other things, historical monuments, which have been damaged, will never be restored for posterity. Iraqi civilians have been killed, as well, Ivanov noted. All this attests to the fact that the war, which brings suffering, complicates the regional situation, Ivanov pointed out.
