400 Russian Vehicles Deliver Humanitarian Aid To Afghanistan

Humanitarian aid is delivered to Afghanistan by 12 Russian convoys numbering a total of 400 vehicles, Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu told journalists on Tuesday. Participating in the humanitarian aid program for Afghanistan are Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Great Britain and the United Nations World Food Program. According to Shoigu, humanitarian cargos are shipped to Afghanistan along either of two routes: either from Osh, Kyrgyzstan to Faizabad, the center of the northeastern Afghan province of Badakhshan, via the Tajik frontier post on the river Panj, or from Dushanbe to Mazar-i-Sharif, the center of the northern province of Balkh, via the Tajik town of Kulyab. On Tuesday, Uzbekistan is expected to start organising yet another route, which will also be used to deliver humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, said Shoigu.
