The death toll of the terrorist attack in Nice has climbed to 84 people, 18 remain in critical condition, after a truck smashed into a crowd of people, the French Interior Ministry said.
Russia's Foreign Ministry confirmed that one Russian woman was killed in the terrorist attack.
A source close to the investigation of the terrorist attack said that the driver, who drove the truck was a 31-year-old Frenchman of Tunisian origin. According to the source, the terrorist was not under the supervision of the French secret service, but had criminal record for theft and violence.
According to Le Figaro, the truck that the man drove into the crowd was hired a few days before the attack.
At night of July 14, a truck smashed into a crowd of people on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice as the people were celebrating the French national holiday, Bastille Day. The truck then drove for about 2 km at a speed of 60-70 km/h, before it was stopped, eyewitnesses said. The police shot the truck driver dead. Firearms and grenades were found in the truck.
Russian people express their condolences to the victims and relatives of those killed in the attack in Nice. People started bringing flowers and candles to the French Embassy on Bolshaya Yakimanka Street at night.
