SARS vaccine won't be found until 2 years later

Russia's Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennady Onishchenko is convinced that a SARS vaccine will be found in two years at the best. World practice shows that "the majority of SARS cases are treatable," he stressed in a RIA Novosti interview.

According to Onishchenko, the SARS patient in Blagoveshchensk, Russia's Far East is recovering, reported Onishchenko. "He is through with all epidemiological measures," he said, explaining that the patient was not contagious any more and was free to communicate with other people. The main task now is to "bring him back to normal," since his case was "a difficult one," the chief sanitary inspector remarked.

As of today, the aforementioned patient is Russia's only case of SARS, although there was a point when there were "about 30 patients" suspected of being afflicted with SARS, he reported.
