First trolleybus for invalids rolls off assembly line in Bashkiria

The Bashkiria Trolleybus Factory (BTZ) has manufactured a trolleybus adapted for transporting invalids. BTZ Technical Director Arkady Proklov told Rosbalt that the experimental model was manufactured by order of potential buyers and has a lowered floor, 30 cm lower than normal.

The new model will officially roll off the plant's assembly line tomorrow. It is equipped with a folding lift for supporting invalids in wheelchairs, 2 seats located next to the exit and additional special means of communication with the driver. According to Proklov, the trolleybus does not look at all like the former BTZ model trolleybus. The front end of the trolleybus is designed with adapted polymeric materials, and is closer to the international class 12-meter transportation. Moreover, the new trolleybus is equipped with a special fuel-saving engine. The experimental model must still pass certification testing and receive its serial number. Proklov says that the degree of innovation is not very large and, therefore, the certification should not be a problem. Certification testing should be completed later this month. The first 50 trolleybuses of the new design will be manufactured on the order of the city of Moscow.
