238 forest fires, 38 of them large-scale, are still raging on the Russian territory.
According to the press service of the Russian emergencies ministry, the majority of big forest fires -- 24 -- was registered in Yakutia, a republic in Northeastern Siberia. On the whole, 48 forest fires are burning in this republic. 39 fires were reported from Tyva, and 23 from the Irkutsk region, Southern Siberia.
Over the past 24 hours, fires consumed an aggregate space of 3,439 hectares, which is considerably less than on the previous day, when fire devastated more than 24,000 hectares of forest.
