Czechs intend to build electric power station in Perm

Perm Mayor Arkadiya Kamenev met with the directorship of Cherus company, which represents the interests of Czech company Aspekt-Energo CZ, in Perm on June 3. They discussed perspectives for constructing a mini electric power station in Perm which runs on alternative fuel.

The Perm mayor's press service told Rosbalt that Cherus Director Yuri Samsonov introduced a project of an electric power station which runs on waste materials. In conformity with conditions in Perm, waste of woodworking companies and still several other types of material waste could become fuel, said Samsanov. The additional stimulus toward realizing the project for the city administration, according to Samsanov, is the fact that they will receive energy resources, while processing waste materials, which could be needed by the city. The major deterrent to the project is the fact that there is no regulated system of garbage collection in Perm like Europe where waste material for thermal processing at electric power stations is singled out.

From the results of the meeting, Kamenev instructed that a work group be created in order that the economic expedience of construction of a mini electric power station in the city would be carefully looked at considering ecological, energy and financial factors. 'If during the course of work we learn that the project is viable, negotiations with the Czech side will turn to a concrete proposal,' said Kamenev.

Electric power stations running on waste materials operate in many European countries including Austria, Sweden, Germany and other. At the present time, there is one such project in the works in Russia located on the outskirts of Moscow where a large electric power station is being built and will be equipped for processing using this technology.
