The model of CIS inter-religious cooperation can be used in other spheres of the Commonwealth's life, chief of staff of the Council of Russia's Muftis Kharis Khazrat Saubyanov said at a RIA Novosti roundtable on inter-confessional relations on Monday.
He pointed out successful activities of the CIS Inter-religious Council, which was formed in spring 2004 and comprises Orthodox, Islamic, Judaist and Buddhist spiritual leaders.
"This is a cooperation model, which can be adopted in other spheres of CIS activities," he noted.
According to Kharis Khazrat Saubyanov, today spiritual leaders of Russian and CIS traditional religions jointly discuss social aid, religious education, economic issues and globalization.
"We are concerned about terrorist acts by several pseudo-Islamic organizations, he said. The US aggression against Iraq might have caused these attacks, he added. In his words, Muslims due to their temper cannot but hate external pressure.
