Russian owner of Chelsea FC wants to buy new players

Chelsea FC will buy new players before the games of the English premier league starts, Roman Abramovich, Chelsea's owner, a well-known Russian businessman and Governor of the Chukot Autonomous Area, Russia's easternmost region, said at a Tuesday press conference in the town of Anadyr, capital of the Area.

"It will be very nice if we buy seven players by August 31," Mr. Abramovich said. However, he refused to comment on the situation and said that "any comment on the situation will increase the cost of contracts." According to Abramovich, he does not think Chelsea will win the championship. "I would like it but I think I have to take things as they are. Even if we buy good players we will not get good results because the team have to play together," the Russian oligarch said.

He said that in the near future Chelsea will have a new training base.

When answering a question about the debts of the FC the owner said that he was dealing with the problem at the moment. Meanwhile, he believes Chelsea can become a profitable football club.

According to the owner, he met the team only once during the training. "We have agreed to build up a new team," Roman Abramovich said. According to him, he sees the purchase of the team as "a very long-term liability." One of the richest "new Russians" said that he intended to have a new football stadium constructed in Moscow for those Russian football clubs which do not have their own fields.
