Storm warning issued in Kamchatka

Storm warning has been issued in Kamchatka as two powerful cyclones approach the peninsula.

The Kamchatka Interregional Department of Hydremeteorology and Environmental Monitoring reports that the first atmospheric tide is approaching the peninsula from Sakhalin and is already starting to affect the southern regions.

Wind will be getting stronger in the Lopatka Cape and the Ozernovsky Region, reaching 25-30 meters per second. Moderate precipitation is expected at night to be increased by Friday morning.

The first cyclone is followed by the second atmospheric tide coming from the south. They are expected to join over the southern and central regions of the area.

In Kamchatka's most densely populated regions, such as Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vilyuchinsky and Yelizovsky, the wind is expected to increase up to 15-20 meters per second, reaching 24 meters per second during the day. High precipitation, sleet sticking to wires, icy road conditions are also forecast.
