Russia ready to cooperate with Iran on peaceful nuclear program

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Igor Ivanov discussed the Iranian nuclear program during his two-day visit to the country.

"Russia is ready to assist the Islamic Republic in creating favorable and successful conditions for peaceful use of nuclear energy," he announced.

During the visit Ivanov met Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Hasan Rowhani, Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi and parliament chairman Haddad Adel.

The talks also touched upon the Caspian problems and issues of regional and international cooperation. Besides, the parties discussed the Iraqi crisis, fight against international terrorism and drug trafficking, as well as the outlook for expanding bilateral relations in the political, economic, scientific, technical and other spheres.
