The problem of the Kaliningrad region, Russia's enclave in the Baltic, will be discussed at the EU prime ministerial summit due on June 20-21 in Seville, Spain, said Richard Ride, head of the European Commission representations, when answering a RIA Novosti question.
When speaking live on Friday at the Russian radio station Radio-1 the European Commission representations head stressed that the Kaliningrad problem in the context of the EU coming expansion by Central and Eastern European countries, in particular, Poland and Lithuania, had been recently discussed at the Moscow Russia-EU summit.
"Now the main direction of our cooperation should be improving the infrastructures on Russian-Polish and Russian-Lithuanian borders," he said.
As to the problem of visa issuing, it will be decided and regulated in compliance with the EU legislation, he stressed. Yet the European side has repeatedly stated that it was possible to decrease the cost of visas for the Kaliningrad region's inhabitants, he added.
