BiblioNight to hit Russia on warm April night

BiblioNight to hit Russia on warm April night. 46075.jpegAt night of April 20-21 Nizhny Novgorod will hold the first social and cultural action called BiblioNight. "With the help of this action, libraries will reach new audiences - young people in the first place and the middle classes - the people who attend cultural events at night," the author of the idea and the supervisor of the project, Ilya Nikolaev said.

The event is being organized by the Association of Managers of Culture, Facebook, the Russian State Children's Library, the State Literature Museum, Yasnaya Polyana Museum, Pushkin Library Fund and other organizations and private companies.

According to Ilya Nikolaev, hundreds of libraries, museums, galleries, cultural centers and bookstores are ready to join the action. BiblioNight will take place in Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tula, Petrozavodsk, Perm, Tver, Volgograd and other cities of Russia.

"Nizhny Novgorod has one of the best cultural situations in Russia. In many other Russian cities, cultural actions are held mostly in libraries. In Nizhny Novgorod, there are many other places where cultural life takes place. That is why I believe that we will have a perfect model of the event in Nizhny Novgorod, and it will be a good one for the whole country.

BiblioNight is to be held every year at night from Friday to Saturday during the third week of April. This is the time when the weather gets warmer, but most people still stay in their cities. The organizers believe that BiblioNight will become competition for "The Night of Museums" which takes place on May 18th.

The content, duration and scale of cultural events of the program shall be determined by participants either independently or in cooperation with curators, producers, executors, etc.

The organizers of BiblioNight will welcome original formats and genres, as well as qualitative cultural events.
