Thousands of demonstrators, mostly Arabs, appeared in Sydney on Saturday to protest against the Israeli military action against terrorism. Protesters were waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans: 'Free free Palestine' and 'America Israel how many children did you kill today?'. A group of demonstrators attempted to break into an office building housing the Consulate of Israel, throwing various objects towards the entrance and towards the police force. The Israeli flag was burned. As the riot developed out of control, police reinforcements on horseback were brought in to control the mob. A similar demonstration took place in Brisbane at the same time, with another unsuccessful attempt to break into the Israeli consular office.
