First pig races in 100 years to be held in Moscow

For the first time in 100 years, pig races will once again be held in Moscow. As reported by a Rosbalt correspondent, that announcement was made at a press conference by the general director of the exhibition company, Asti Group, Narinz Bagmanian.

In her words, the races will be held March 21-22 in the exhibition center Crocus Expo, in conjunction with the exhibit Zoo Rossia 2004. The races will be held twice a day, with each race lasting an hour and involving three rounds. In all, 15 piglets will participate. Bagmanian said that the races will include a sweepstakes, with the proceeds to be used in support of disabled children.

Included in the exhibition program will be a world cup for cats, exhibits and competitive automobile races involving hamsters, dog competitions and a fashion show. In addition to Asti Group, the exhibition's organizers include Russian zoological associations, as well as veterinarians and veterinary industries.
