30 Forest Fires Registered in Russia's Far East

As of Wednesday, 30 seats of fire covering 895 hectares of forest and 1,266 hectares of open land have been registered in Russia's Far East.

According to a source in the Far Eastern forest protection aviation base, two new seats of fire were registered on the Khabarovsk territory over the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, 6 forest fires were covering an aggregate space of 27 hectares.

The worst situation befell the Amur region, where 14 seats of fire cover 725 hectares of forest and 875 hectares of open land.

The firefighting effort in the Far East involves 111 people, 3 aircraft, and 16 units of equipment. All in all since the beginning of 2003, the region's firefighters have extinguished 77 forest fires.

Nine seats of fire, two of them large, were registered in the Jewish Autonomous Area. They cover an aggregate space of 514 hectares.

One more seat of fire was registered in Primorye.
