Anatoly Iksanov has been dismissed from the position of the director of the Bolshoi Theatre, which he has held since 2000. The new director is expected to be appointed today, July 9th.
The news about Iksanov's dismissal appeared in electronic media on Monday evening. According to one version, the decision could be based on the conflict between the director and ballerina Svetlana Zakharova.
It was reported that there were three candidates for the office of the director of the Bolshoi Theater. Later it became known that Vladimir Urin would take the office as director. He was introduced to the team of the Bolshoi Theater by Minister for Culture Vladimir Medinsky.
