Questions of International Integration of Siberia and Far East Discussed in Irkutsk

The international conference Siberia and the Far East in Russia and the world: challenges to development strategies opened yesterday in Irkutsk. The event is organised by the Inter-regional Institute of Social Sciences at Irkutsk State University. The conference is supported by the Russian Education Ministry, the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies (USA), the Carnegie Corporation in New York, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation (USA) and the Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation). Representatives of leading research centres in Russia, including the Far East, and Japan will take part in the conference.
