Second Round Of Presidential Elections To Be Held In Yakutia On January 13

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Central Election Committee Valentin Vlasov will fly to Yakutia (a republic in Russia's north-east) on Friday in order to observe the preparations and conduct of the second round of the presidential elections scheduled for January 13. The first round of elections on December 23 did not determine the winner. President of the ALROSA diamond mining company Vyacheslav Shtyrov who won 45.5 per cent of votes in the first round and businessman Fedot Tumusov (17 per cent of votes) will be fighting for the presidential post in the second round. One of the candidates has to just gain a majority of votes for the victory in the second round.
