As a result of breakdowns in heating supply systems there are currently 289 residential buildings (25,140 people) and 41 administrative buildings without heating in 19 different residential areas in 14 different administrative districts across Russia. More than a thousand people are taking part in the rescue operations. This was announced yesterday by the press office of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.

According to the ministry's press office, the most affected region has been the North-West of Russia: the Komi Republic, Karelia, the Leningrad and Novgorod Regions.
