Seven-month female tiger cub by name of Malyshka to be brought to Moscow Zoo

The female tiger cub by the name of Malyshka on Wednesday started its trip by plane from Vladivostok (Russia's Far East) to Moscow Zoo, the Biological-Soil Institute of the Far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent on Wednesday.

The tigress was found in the Ussuri taiga by huntsmen on February 28, 2003, said the spokesman for the institute.

According to the huntsmen, "weakened by hunger the tiger cub was going along a log transportation road." When they approached her the tiger cub turned from the road into snow and fell, unable to move further and rendered no resistance to the people.

The huntsmen believe that poachers killed her mother but the cub managed to escape. The tiger cub, who weighed less than twelve kilograms, was given to the zoological centre of the Biological-Soil Institute where she was nursed.
