Khabarovsk governor comments on cooperation with North East Asia

The Russian Far East is ready for cooperation with countries of the NorthEast Asia in the fuel and energy sector, Viktor Ishayev, governor of theKhabarovsk region, declared at a conference of the Association of regionaladministrations of the countries of the North East Asia. According to him,a deficit of energy resources in the Asian states can be compensated byRussian gas, coal and oil supplies, as well as by electrical energyexports. The electrical energy consumption in the states of the North EastAsia has doubled over the past ten years. China and Republic of Koreaexperience energy deficit.According to the governor, the Far East is ready to export energy sourcesand electrical energy. Another promising project is the development of thetransportation corridor Europe-Asia. South Korea and North Korea havealready declared the necessity to connect the Trans-Korean railroad to theTrans-Siberian railroad..
