Putin Visits Traffic Control Centre In Moscow

On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Start traffic control centre. The head of state got familiarized with the centre's functioning, hearing the comments of road police director Vladimir Fedorov and Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov. It turned out that Putin, as well as Luzhkov, liked the previous name of road police - GAI (State Automobile Inspection), more than the current GIBDD (State Inspection for Traffic Security). Fedorov said, in his turn, that it was planned to enforce the Start system in areas beyond the Garden Ring (including 16 city highways and the third transport ring). Currently this system is employed for traffic control in Moscow downtown. Luzhkov told Putin about his plans to construct a fourth transport ring. The mayor has already gave instructions to start developing the project.
