Kim Jong Il’s train condemned in Russia

Everybody remembers that remarkable event that took place last summer. Beloved leader of North-Korean people, comrade Kim Jong Il, came to Russia on a two-day visit. The travel was long, the North-Korean leader went by train through the whole country. However, let us put aside the political aspect of the visit and let us remember how ordinary Russian citizens reacted to it.

They were, let us say self-restrained, about it. Kim Jong Il’s visit caused many inconveniences to the citizens through whose cities his train traveled. Absurd security demands, even according to Russian criteria, presented by North-Korean side entailed mass troubles in Russian rail ways’ time-table. As a result, dozens (if not hundreds) of thousands of Russian citizens trying to get to their dachas or to other cities were unable to. Finally, many of them promised they would bring an action against the Communications Ministry, which, in general, is logical, because it would be too complicated to bring an action against Kim Jong Il. Many people followed through with their promise.

On Monday, in the city of Perm, a session on the “Kim Jong Il case” took place. It lasted two hours and resulted in the satisfaction of the complainants’ demands: the Nazarovs had demanded from the Communications Ministry to give them money for moral damage ($ 400.00) and 35-dollar penalty. However, before achieving this result, the family had to go through seven sessions, and there is no guarantee that the court’s decision will be realized by the ministry.

Meanwhile, the Kim Jong Il train stopped in many other cities: in Khabarovsk, Ulan-Ude, Irkutsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk. However, only in Perm the suit was brought connected with violation of the consumer’s right. Citizens of other Russian cities who suffered from the North-Korean leader’s visit seem to have decided not to get into touch with courts. While this turned out to be not hopeless at all, however long.

Therefore, Russian citizens should more active in asserting their rights, and the powers that be should probably pay more attention to their citizens’ needs.

In the meantime, in Perm, two more suits are expected to be considered connected with Kim Jong Il’s visit. Vasily Bubnov PRAVDA.Ru Translated by Vera Solovieva
