The Governor of Kamchatka Vladimir Ilyukhin declared Sept. 13 the day of mourning for ten people who were killed in the crash of the An-28 jetliner. The families of the victims will receive compensations in the amount of 200,000 rubles ($6,250). The survivors of the crash will also receive financial support from the authorities.
The head of the region presented condolences to the people, who lost their loved ones in the air crash ."The tragedy is a shock for all. I express my support and deepest sympathies to the relatives of the victims," said Vladimir Ilyukhin.
The crashed An-28 belonged to an airline from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. According to Polit.Ru, investigators withdrew the documents relating to preparations for the flight. They also took samples of the jet fuel and analyzed the records of the conversations between the crew of the plane and air traffic controllers.
The connection with the passenger plane flying on the route Petropavlovsk-Palana was lost today at 12:28 local time (04:28 MSK). A rescue helicopter found the debris of the aircraft on the slope of a hill, about 10 kilometers from Palana.
Having hit the ground, the aircraft fell apart. Nine bodies were found on the site of the crash. A child died from injuries on the way to hospital. The crash left four survivors: one woman and three men. Investigation is underway. Supposedly, the plane crashed due to engine failure. According to another version, it was the non-flying weather that caused the tragedy.
