“Any attempt or any decision to attack Iraq today will be unwise in that it can lead to a major escalation in the region and I would hope that will not be the case”, he declared from Oslo.
He also stated that such an attack would be the subject of serious consideration by the United Nations Security Council and that the only way to attack the question of international terrorism is through strict and close international collaboration. His words come in the aftermath of rising tension between the USA and Iraq over American claims that Saddam Hussein is building weapons of mass destruction which threaten the security of the USA.
The US Secretary of State has declared recently that there is no immediate intention to attack Iraq, but Vice President Richard (Dick) Cheney, said that the USA still has to decide “as to how we proceed to make certain the United States is not vulnerable” to an attack using weapons of mass destruction.
