Russian diplomat on Moscow's Iraq position

The Russia position as regards settlement of the situation in Iraq is as follows: "if we want the Iraqis to restore their country's sovereignty, it will require working out a detailed plan of sovereignty restoring," a source in the Russian delegation at Geneva negotiations on Iraq between the five UN Security Council permanent members told RIA Novosti.

According to him, a "roadmap" for Iraq could be such a programme.

"It would define the timeframe for setting up a transitional government and forming a constitutional assembly. In the future, it is necessary to prepare a constitution and elect permanent international recognised authorities," the Russian diplomat said.
