International conference 'Oil and Gas of the Arctic Shelf' opens in Murmansk on Wednesday

The international conference "Oil and Gas of the Arctic Shelf" is opening in Murmansk on Wednesday. RIA Novosti learned from the press service of the government of the region that such a conference will be held for the first time.

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the government of the Murmansk Region, the State Unitary Enterprise Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka, the Arctic Shelf Association, the Northern Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The conference will be attended by 250 representatives of Russian and foreign oil and gas companies, scientific centres, prominent scientists, representatives of ministries and departments, North-Western regions of Russia, deputies of the State Duma (lower chamber of the Russian parliament).

Over 150 papers will be read at the conference on subjects, including geology of the shelf, marine geophysical research, marine quest and exploratory drilling, and geoecology.
