The annual international conference of journalists, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod press kicks off this week. On May 17, more than 200 journalists as well as media representatives from all across Russia will gather in Moscow to discuss topical issues of modern journalism. The meting will take place on board a pleasure boat.
The third international conference kicks off in Moscow and will end on May 21 on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The event is organized by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Russian Union of Journalists.
During five days, the participants of the conference will travel on waterways between Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. The forum titled "Regional Media: the Form and Content," presentation of "Homeland" magazine, numerous round tables and discussions on current topics in modern journalism will take place within the scope of the conference.
The Third International Conference of Journalists will end with a Plenary meeting "Formula of Confidence in the Government." The meeting will be conducted by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Valery Shantsev, and the chairman of the Union of Journalists, Vsevolod Bogdanov.
The Nizhny Novgorod region has been getting more and more significant in terms of the federal and international media platform, which discusses most important aspects of Russian journalism.
Today, the Register of existing media of the Roskomnadzor Department in the Volga Federal District includes 689 media outlets that are present in the Nizhny Novgorod region. These include more than 500 newspapers and magazines, about 150 electronic media and 14 news agencies.
In addition, there are about 500 offices of mass media publications in the region, whose area of distribution embraces several regions or the entire Russian Federation and former Soviet republics.
The development of the media is one of the priorities of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In 2010, the region established the Ministry for Information Technologies, Communications and Media. The department conducts joint state policy in the field of electronic and print media.
The Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region is the founder or co-founder of more than 60 regional media. Editorial offices of state and municipal media employ about 1,500 journalists. Hundreds of journalists are engaged in the production of private-owned social, political and commercial newspapers, magazines, online media, television and radio programs.
