Rashid Nurgaliyev, Deputy Interior Minister in charge of criminal police, is starting a check of efforts against organised crime, reports the ministerial press service.

Mr. Nurgaliyev is flying to Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East today. His later itinerary includes Siberia, the Urals and the Volga federal districts. Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov has authorised him to arrange conferences at which police bosses will discuss stepping up anti-gang efforts and closer police teamwork with the Federal Security Service, or FSB.
