It is necessary to start consistent work for deregulating and debureaucratizing the economy, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Arkady Volsky stated at the union's meeting today. In his opinion, the major point regarding deregulation should be not just the adoption of new laws but "steady fulfillment of the principle of lifting administrative barriers on the way to entrepreneurship".
"Today, instead of being a guardian, it (the government) prefers to quietly watch its officials turn into hoodlums," the head of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs stressed. As an example, he pointed to the implementation "of the declared 'one window' idea which has not been opened so far". According to Volsky's estimate, this is what is important for Russia's small businesses, as until they "account for at least a half of the GDP, Russia will be import dependent and depend on foreign supplies".
