As of the end of 2012, the industrial sector of the Nizhny Novgorod region entered stable development. If compared to the pre-crisis period in 2008, production has increased by a third and made up 960 billion rubles. In 2012, the region became the leader among Russian regions on the number of scientific projects that were introduced in the industry.
"In 2013, the Nizhny Novgorod industry is expected to step over the limit of one trillion rubles on the volume of production," Governor Valery Shantsev said at the meeting devoted to the results of the industry in the region in 2012 and tasks for 2013.
According to the head of the region, last year was a good period for the industrial sector. "Suffice it to say that the index of the physical volume of production in our region was more than 5%. This is almost twice the national average of 2.6%. The volume of products shipped neared the level of one trillion rubles," said Valery Shantsev.
In 2012, the region also paid attention to the development of the innovative component and the military-industrial complex. The regional authorities plan to raise the state order to 5-7 percent.
To support the regional industry, 3.7 billion rubles were allocated from the regional budget, which made up about three percent of total budget revenues.
As for the tasks for 2013, Governor Shantsev said: "We have to ensure industrial growth of at least 5 percent, overcome the limit of one trillion rubles on the shipment of products, continue active work on modernization and technical re-equipment of companies."
